EXPCAM002/ZEBRA
The Art of Disguise

This exploration draws inspiration from the camouflage of the Zebra. The camouflage is primarily achieved through its iconic black and white striped ‘coat’. It’s an adaptation that provides several functional advantages in its natural habitat.

The bold, high-contrast stripes create a disruptive coloration, making it challenging for predators to single out individual zebras within a group. This optical illusion confuses predators by disrupting their ability to accurately perceive the size, shape, and speed of individual zebras. The unique stripe patterns also serve as a form of social identification within the herd, helping zebras recognise one another.
